More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:
Skistore Swing
De Opslach 3
8448 GV Heerenveen
The Netherlands
4. Shipping
Hand over your return at a DPD parcel point or a carrier of your choice.
Returning (part of) your order is at your own risk. Keep the proof of delivery until we have received and processed your package.
Please note! After registering your return online, you have 14 days to return your parcel to the postal service. If you return the parcel after these 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return.
5. Refund
You will receive confirmation by e-mail when your return has been received and processed.
This is usually within a few days after your order has been delivered to us. The money will then be refunded to the account you paid with within a week after confirmation (usually longer for credit card payments). If you have chosen to pay afterwards, this will be adjusted on your Klarna invoice.
Please note! If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- Acrylic knit with fleece lining, 75 g in one size
- Low profile: fits under a helmet or hood
- Made without intentionally added PFAS
- No membrane: wets out in rain and wet snow
- Untreated knit lets wind through
- Hand wash cold only, single size (OSFA)
The Peak Performance Pow Headband is a knitted, fleece-lined headband for cold, dry winter days in the resort and in town. The 100% acrylic knit is backed with a 100% polyester fleece lining, so the warmth comes from the fabric itself — there is no membrane and no insulation fill. It weighs 75 grams, comes in one size (OSFA) and carries a jacquard-knitted Peak Performance logo.
Who is the Pow Headband for?
This Peak Performance headband suits you if you want simple, warm ear and forehead coverage for cold dry days: lift queues, the walk to the gondola, après-ski, winter dog walks and the school run. It is not the right choice if you need weather protection. With no membrane and no stated water resistance, rain and wet snow soak into the knit, and an untreated knit lets wind pass through. For high-output touring or running, where fast moisture transport matters, choose a technical headband instead.
How warm is the Pow Headband?
Warmth in the Peak Performance Pow Headband comes from two layers: an acrylic knit outer and a polyester fleece lining against the skin. That combination blocks the cold on still, dry winter days and keeps the ear area comfortable under a hood. Remember what a headband does and does not cover: forehead and ears stay warm, the top of your head stays open. In deep cold, or when the wind picks up, a full beanie covers more.
Which size do you need?
The Pow Headband is made in one size only (OSFA), so there is nothing to choose. The knit stretches to sit around the forehead and over the ears, and its low profile means it fits under a helmet or a hood, or over a hat-free head on the walk home. Because it is a single size, check the size chart on this page before you order if you have an unusually large or small head.
Construction, use and care
How is the Peak Performance Pow Headband built?
The Peak Performance Pow Headband is a two-part accessory with no technical laminate. The outside is a 100% acrylic knit, which gives the band its structure, its stretch and the jacquard-knitted logo. The inside is a 100% polyester fleece lining, which sits directly against the forehead and ears and softens the feel of the knit. There is no membrane, no coating and no stated water column, which keeps the whole thing light at 75 grams in its one size. Think of it as a warm knit first and foremost, not as a piece of weather protection.
Is the Pow Headband suitable for skiing?
On and around the piste, the Pow Headband earns its place on cold dry days: under a helmet, under a hood, or on its own at the bottom of the lift and on the terrace afterwards. It covers the two areas that get cold first — forehead and ears — while leaving the top of the head uncovered, which is exactly what most people want when they are wearing a helmet. Where it stops is clear. In rain, wet snow or long spells of precipitation the acrylic knit wets out. In strong wind, air moves through the knit. On a long skin track, where sweat management decides how warm you stay, a knitted band with no wicking claim is not the tool for the job. For touring and high alpine days, treat this as the headband you put on at the car, not the one you climb in.
What are the materials, and how do you wash it?
The Peak Performance Pow Headband uses an acrylic knit shell over a polyester fleece lining — two synthetics that hold their shape and dry without much fuss, but that do need gentle handling. Care is hand wash in cold water at 30 °C, which is more maintenance than a machine-washable accessory. Do not bleach, do not tumble dry, do not iron and do not dry clean; professional wet cleaning is allowed under a mild process. Skip the fabric softener, wash with similar colours, take it out of the water promptly and dry it flat in the shade so the knit keeps its shape.
What about sustainability?
The Pow Headband is made without intentionally added PFAS. Since there is no durable water repellent finish on this headband in the first place, that is consistent with what the product is: a plain warm knit rather than a treated, weather-resistant accessory.
