More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:
Skistore Swing
De Opslach 3
8448 GV Heerenveen
The Netherlands
4. Shipping
Hand over your return at a DPD parcel point or a carrier of your choice.
Returning (part of) your order is at your own risk. Keep the proof of delivery until we have received and processed your package.
Please note! After registering your return online, you have 14 days to return your parcel to the postal service. If you return the parcel after these 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return.
5. Refund
You will receive confirmation by e-mail when your return has been received and processed.
This is usually within a few days after your order has been delivered to us. The money will then be refunded to the account you paid with within a week after confirmation (usually longer for credit card payments). If you have chosen to pay afterwards, this will be adjusted on your Klarna invoice.
Please note! If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- 300 gsm fleece with Pima cotton jersey lining

- Fair Trade Certified sewing, organic cotton
- No membrane or DWR: not for rain or snowfall
- 81% cotton body holds sweat and dries slowly
- 650 g, and stocked only in M, L and XL
The Arc'teryx Emblem Fleece Full Zip Hoody is a heavyweight cotton-blend fleece hoody for men, made for crag days, belaying and everyday wear rather than for weather protection. The body is a 300 gsm cotton-polyester circular knit fleece backed with a 160 gsm organic Pima cotton jersey lining, which is what gives it a dense, soft hand instead of the thin feel of a technical fleece. A No Slip Zip front zipper and kissing pleats over the zip line keep grit and chalk away from the teeth.
Who is this hoody for?
The Emblem Fleece Full Zip Hoody suits a climber, boulderer or hiker who wants one warm, comfortable layer for the warm-up, the belay and the drive home, and who already owns a shell for wet or windy weather. It is not a weather layer: there is no membrane, no water-repellent finish and no windproof layer, and the cotton-dominant fabric soaks up water. At 650 g it is also too heavy and too slow-drying for ski touring, freeriding or any high-output day.
How warm is the Emblem Fleece Full Zip Hoody?
Warmth comes from fabric mass rather than insulation: a 300 gsm knit fleece body plus a 160 gsm cotton jersey lining, with ribbed side panels and cuffs closing the gaps at the hem and wrists. The knit is air-permeable, so it vents well while you move, but it offers no resistance to wind. Because the body is 81% cotton and the lining 100% cotton, sweat is held in the fabric and dries slowly, which is why this works better over a T-shirt at the crag than under a shell in the cold.
Which size should you choose?
Arc'teryx cuts the Emblem Fleece Full Zip Hoody in a regular fit, with room for a base layer or T-shirt underneath. The size chart on this page lists flat garment measurements; in M that is 121.3 cm chest, 69.5 cm centre back length and 90.8 cm sleeve measured from centre back. If your chest measurement falls between two sizes, take the larger size for a looser fit or the smaller one for a trimmer line. This style is stocked in M, L and XL.
What is the Arc'teryx Emblem Fleece Full Zip Hoody made of?
Three fabrics do the work in the Arc'teryx Emblem Fleece Full Zip Hoody. The body is a solid cotton-poly circular knit fleece at 300 gsm, 81% cotton and 19% polyester, which carries the warmth and the heavy drape. Inside, a 160 gsm organic Pima cotton jersey lining sits against the skin. The side panels and cuffs use a 1x1 rib of 58% cotton, 39% polyester and 3% elastane, so they stretch and return to shape instead of bagging out. Total garment weight is 650 g. Storage is a pair of hand pockets plus one internal zippered pocket for a phone or a set of keys.
Is the Emblem Fleece Full Zip Hoody good for bouldering and crag days?
That is exactly where this hoody belongs. Arc'teryx builds the Emblem Fleece Full Zip Hoody for bouldering sessions, warm-ups, belaying and hanging around camp, with the kissing pleats over the front zip keeping chalk dust and dirt out of the zipper track and the No Slip Zip slider specified to resist opening on its own. Worth knowing: several owners report the front zip working open at the neck when the collar is under tension, so this reads as a comfort layer rather than a storm-proof closure. It also works for hiking in dry conditions, travel and resort downtime after the lifts close. Where it stops is clear: no powder skirt, no pass pocket, no RECCO reflector, and no membrane, so rain, snowfall and exposed ridgelines call for a hardshell over the top.
How do you wash a cotton-blend fleece hoody?
Cotton content of this level rewards a gentle routine. Machine wash the Emblem Fleece Full Zip Hoody at a low temperature, wash dark colours such as Dk Stratus - a dark, slightly blue-tinted grey - separately for the first few washes, and tumble dry on low heat only. Skip bleach, fabric softener, the iron and dry cleaning. Keeping to the low wash and low dryer settings matters more here than on a synthetic fleece, because a cotton-dominant knit can shrink if it is run hot. The ribbed panels and cuffs help the hoody hold its shape over repeated washes.
What makes this hoody more sustainable?
The Emblem Fleece Full Zip Hoody is PFAS compliant and uses organically grown cotton in the body, the lining and the contrast rib, with recycled content in the body and contrast fabrics. The body, lining and contrast are all bluepass Materials, and the page lists bluesign approved materials for this style. Sewing is done in a Fair Trade Certified facility, MAS Active (Private) Limited - Asialine in Sri Lanka, with fabric and dyeing from Thailand.
